What does innovation mean to you?

To me, innovation is never being happy with the status quo, and always looking to make new connections and merge ideas from various disciplines to create new and better ways of doing things.

What does "be curious beyond the obvious" mean to you?

This is the essential core of innovation. Instead of saying, "I don't know, that's just the way we have always done it," it requires you to dig a little deeper. This can often result in new processes, methods and efficiencies that make Allegion better.

What does "this is your business, run with it" mean to you?

To me, it means you are here and a part of this team for a reason. The rest of the Allegion team values your input and expects you to not be complacent and to be highly engaged, provide input and new ideas.

What are other ways you innovate?

I participated in the 2019 Allegion Trailblazer competition on Team Magnetic Mortise. During the competition, the team developed a new mortise lock specifically for sliding doors. The lock uses magnets to help pull the door tightly shut, and upon opening the door, the action of the user rotating the lever handle shifts the magnets into opposition mode to assist in pushing the door open. Presently, the Magnetic Mortise lock is in patent pending phase and will be pursuing commercialization.
