Allegion’s acquisition strategy focuses on opportunities that grow our product portfolio, expand the business geographically, and acquire new innovative technologies. It is an intrinsic part of Allegion’s overall strategy.

So why do we look to acquire a company? We want to:

  • Expand our product portfolio
  • Find emerging technology
  • Compete in emerging markets

But not every company is the perfect fit for Allegion. We have a robust system that evaluates our pipeline and does an analysis and due diligence on prospective companies. Some key considerations are:

  • Alignment with Allegion's strategic direction and in our core
  • Strong business and market fundamentals
  • Targets with leadership position and ability to scale
  • Clear synergy opportunities
  • Return on invested capital >12% by year 3

Our process checks integrations regularly, and updates are provided to the Board of Directors. The target return is 12% Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) by year three.
